Tempest

I'll be off for a few days with night time work meetings so best dash off a quick one now.

Things have been a bit inclement here weather wise. This happened a few K's up the road from my mum and Dad's. Tragically a bloke my age, his partner, two kids under 3 and a 9 year old boy perished as their car was plunged into what used to be a trickle of water but had turned into a torrent.

My mother said she had not seen wind like it since our days up north in cyclone season. I believe her, while visiting for the Queen's Birthday holiday I snapped this across from their house.

A walk on the beach revealed, well, not much beach

No more walkies on the beach for the puppy.

I would have loved to have seen the waves that carried the sand away.

Ferry services had to stop.

One ferry station/ dock actually sank into the harbour

All exciting, i love storms, I don't like hearing these apartments creeking though

It seems to have settled down a bit now. Children are running around Sydney town asking what the water was doing falling from the sky. it appears we are finally getting our La Nina.

Well, I'm off to test drive some restaurants for my next post.

oh ev,
it brings back memories of a terrible winter we had about two years ago. we had 57 inches of rain and homes were literally sliding down hillsides. amazing how terrifying rain and wind can become. hope the weather brightens up for you.

i'm terrified of storms. lightning and thunder are horrifying to me. i don't do good in these situations..

i'm so sorry for all the damaged and most of all for the lives lost. the pictures are horrible. i sure hope your parents are alright and so is there property.

from this chickens perspective :) i'm glad you didn't get to see the waves that carried the sand away. they must have been something..

good luck in the late evenings working ahead. i hope it all goes smoothly. enjoy the restaurant.

houses sliding!!!!!! now I'm thinking this place is pretty safe.

Chana, i love storms, it reminds me that mother nature has a bit of emotion and when she isn't happy she isn't happy. The family dog had a few heart attacks but everything seems a ok.

anany,mum- I'm working on it, trouble is most are pubs or RSL's no real posh places for me these days. I shall seek em out.

Oh, these storms are not fun. Hopefully, you don't have anymore. We had 4 terrible storms in a row in '04, not fun!! We are used to them in Florida.

It's been bad watching it on the news. Of course we were lucky up here this year. Worst we've had is some wind and a little rain...
I still remember the mini cyclone that whipped through albury while we were there and it's devastating effects. I can't imagine what it's like for everyone at the moment.
Stay safe buddy, that goes for your mum and dad too.
Cheers, Kelly
p.s I finally made it!
